WHO WE ARE

Child Evangelism Fellowship of the Coastal Bend is a local chapter of the greater organization of Child Evangelism Fellowship. Child Evangelism Fellowship, also known as CEF, is a Bible-centered, worldwide organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the local church for Christian living.

Our local chapter, CEF of the Coastal Bend, was started in 1940, when Lucille Stone brought the ministry to the Coastal Bend having seen how effect this ministry could be in bringing the Gospel to the children of the Coastal Bend through clubs that were held during the summer and throughout the year in parks, apartment complexes, backyards, and in many places around the city. In 2001, the ministry of CEF was catapulted into a new area of ministry when schools were opened to this ministry for afterschool clubs. This led to the formation of what has become known as Good News Clubs in schools throughout the nation, including the Coastal Bend.

Our ministry consists of Good News Clubs and 5-Day Clubs where we have seen more than 1,000 children hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and receive Him as their Lord and Savior. We have discipled children in the Truth of God and worked to establish them in local churches around the area. Not only does this ministry bring the Gospel to children in our city, whether in places like schools or apartment complexes, but this Gospel and the saving grace of Jesus Christ goes forth into households. Parents and guardians, grandparents and siblings, have come to know Jesus, ask for prayer, grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus Christ because they have seen their children changed as a result of knowing Jesus Christ.
